Try Sutrisno's presence at Hamzah Haz's residence shows good relations between the nation's senior figures. As is known, Try Sutrisno was one of the Vice Presidents of Indonesia who accompanied Suharto from 1993 to 1998.

Before his name was known as Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, Try Sutrisno was known as a firm TNI Commander. Even so, there were several iconic events throughout his leadership in the military.

Try's first experience in the military was fighting against the PRRI Rebellion in Sumatra in 1957. In fact, he fought this war while still undergoing the education process, because he was recorded as having graduated from ATEKAD (Army Engineering Academy) in 1959.

After that, Try began to gain a lot of new experience from several assignments entrusted to him. Starting from carrying out assignments in Sumatra, Jakarta, East Java, until he was sent to the Army Command and Staff College (Seskoad) in 1972.

Try Sutrisno's career continued to skyrocket, until in 1985 he was trusted to become Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army, before becoming Chief of Staff of the Army in 1986. Two years later, Try Sutrisno then reached the peak of his career when he succeeded in assuming the position of Commander of the ABRI in 1988. At that time he was appointed to replace LB Moerdani.

When Try served as ABRI Commander, there was an incident that caught the world's attention in 1991. The incident began when a group of students in East Timor Province who launched a protest against the Indonesian Government were actually shot by military troops and hundreds of people died.

The Dili incident then sparked condemnation from the international community throughout the world. However, Try Sutrisno actually denied world criticism by saying that the shooting was necessary and calling the demonstrators delinquents.

When he served as Vice President of Indonesia since 1993, Try Sutrisno was said to not have gotten along very well with Suharto. The reason is that the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia, Soeharto, did not consult him in the process of forming the cabinet.

Another neglect came in late 1997 when Suharto had to go to Germany to receive medical treatment. Instead of delegating Try Sutrisno to carry out Presidential duties, Suharto ordered State Secretary Minister Moerdiono to come to his residence to accept Presidential duties.

In 1998 his duties as Vice President ended. He was later replaced by BJ. Habibie at the 1998 MPR General Session.

Try's simplicity in his daily life is also worthy of being an example. Try said that he actually paid his house in installments for 15 years after he retired from the position of ABRI Commander. This was conveyed through an interview on Irma Hutabarat's Youtube account - HORAS INANG.

Try explained that he chose the official residence of the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) to be purchased in installments. At that time, as a former Army Chief of Staff, he was indeed invited to buy the Army Chief of Staff's official residence.

Try Sutrisno, who is now Deputy Chair of the Steering Committee of the Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP), is known to have repeatedly handed over official residences to other soldiers. This was because he realized that there were still many soldiers who needed a place to live.
