Brilio.net/en - Nutrition has always been a debatable topic, especially since nowadays people are becoming increasingly worried about whats on their plates. We can access pretty much any food and ingredients thanks to importation, and have a lot of nutritional information in order to know what is good for us and what isnt. Everybody already has an idea and knows that what we eat has an impact and our overall health, which includes our mental health, and through it our happiness. So here is a short recap of some not very well-known foods that could actually influence your daily mood!
The first food of the list is quite unexpected; these are the vegetal oils. The very polemic palm oil isnt included. Particularly efficient to fight against seasonal changes, vegetal oils are essentials because they contain nutrients our body isnt able to produce itself. A good way to consume those oils could be as a salad dressing. Here is an example of a happiness dressing recipe: a tablespoon of olive oil, one of linseed oil, one of sunflower oil and one of grapeseed oil.

The second happiness foods on this list are nuts and seeds. Almonds, Brazil nuts, sunflower and sesame seeds are among the most popular and effectives ones. They are very rich in magnesium, a trace element well-known as being the miracle remedy in beating stress and preventing depression. The lack of magnesiums consumption could even lead to anxiety and aggressive behaviour. On the other hand, the selenium they contain is very little known but has similar effect as magnesium! A single Brazil nut provides 100% of the daily required amount of selenium for example. Imagine the benefits of consuming five or six every morning!
Finally, happiness couldnt be complete without mentioning the incredible power of dark chocolate. Full of antioxidants, 70% dark chocolate is the perfect food to boost your mood! The impact of dark chocolate on peoples mood is indeed scientifically proven: cacao releases amino acids that, once synthesized by our system, creates a sensation of calming down and well-being. It also contains polyphenols, that help to build up the immune system and thus prevent all kinds of diseases, cancers amongst them.

Careful though, an overconsumption of any of those food, or of any food in general, is never a good idea! Experts recommend to eat a little bit of everything, but in small doses.
