A number of plaintiffs claim they have lost family and relatives due to the side effects of this vaccine.

Brilio.net - Recently, surprising news came from the pharmaceutical world. AstraZeneca, a company from England, admits that its Covid-19 vaccine can trigger rare side effects. Namely in the form of blood clots and a decrease in platelets, which is known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS).

Quoted from The Telegraph, this confession was conveyed in legal documents submitted to the high court in London in February 2024. This happened after 51 victims in England filed a lawsuit. A number of plaintiffs claim they have lost family and friends due to these side effects. In other cases, the vaccine has also been accused of causing serious injuries.

What is TTS?

Thrombosis with thrombocytopenia (TTS) is a disease that can cause blood clots in a person. In addition, TTS can cause a low number of platelets in the blood. TTS cases are very rare in society. However, this condition can cause serious symptoms.

Symptoms of TTS can take various forms. If blood clots occur in the brain, symptoms can include dizziness. However, if they occur in the digestive tract, blood clots can cause nausea. Meanwhile, blood clots that occur in the legs can cause stiffness. Usually, this condition can also cause bleeding if there is a decrease in platelet levels in the blood.

According to the Melbourne Vaccine Education Center (MVEC), TTS can be classified into two main grades based on platelet location and severity of symptoms. The first degree involves rare locations of platelets, such as cerebral venous sinus thrombosis or intestinal-associated splanchnic vein thrombosis, as well as possible concomitant thrombosis in more common locations.

On the other hand, second degree usually involves common thrombosis sites such as the legs or lungs. Grade 1 tends to be associated with more severe symptoms and carries a higher risk than grade 2. Evidence suggests that grade 1 is more common in younger age groups. Generally these symptoms appear 4-42 days after vaccination.

Symptoms that are often felt after being attacked by TTS are severe and continuous headaches, blurred vision, difficulty speaking, often sleepy and can even lead to convulsions. Apart from that, symptoms that affect the whole body include difficulty breathing, chest pain, swelling of the legs, and continuous stomach pain.

A rare disease that only has one dose in a million.

However, Dr Chandrakant Lahariya, senior consultant physician, vaccine specialist and epidemiologist at Sukhmani Hospital, New Delhi said, TTS is one of the rare but very serious side effects that occurs as part of induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (VITTP). by Vaccine.

The link between the AstraZeneca vaccine and vaccine-induced immune TTS was scientifically identified in early 2021, soon after the first Covid vaccine was released. It is important to remember that there is no clinically validated data showing young people dying of heart disease due to Covid-19 vaccination. The incidence of TTS is only one in a million doses.

Indonesia itself, which is a country that has consumed 70 million doses of the AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccine, has so far found no complaints about side effects. Based on monitoring by the National Commission for the Study and Management of Post-Immunization Adverse Events (Komnas PP KIPI), there were no incidents of thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS) after the use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in Indonesia.

Reporting from merdeka6.com, if currently a TTS case is found in Indonesia, the Chairman of Komnas PP KIPI, Professor Hinky Hindra Irawan Satari, is quite confident in saying that it is not caused by the Covid-19 vaccine.

"A post-immunization follow-up event (AEFI) occurs when disease or symptoms are found between 4 and 42 days after the vaccine is injected. Even if cases of TTS are found in Indonesia now, it is definitely not due to the COVID-19 vaccine because it has already passed the time period when it occurred," explained Hinky.
