The first unit ofskytrainor automated people mover system (APMS) has arrived at the Soekarno-Hatta Airport on Wednesday.
The train is now parked at the Terminal 3 of the airport and is planned to commence its operation for connecting the terminals next month.
"The APMS project's track is visible from Terminal 3,"said the corporate secretary of state-owned construction firm PTWijayaKarya(Wika)PuspitaAnggrainiviaKompas.com on Sunday.
Puspitasaid that the progress has reached 88 percent completion per today and the company planned to conduct the first stage of trial operations, from the Terminal 3 to Terminal 2 and vice versa on June 20, 2017.
Thedriverlesstrain will also connect terminals to an integrated building where passengers can change modes to the airport train, bus, taxi or rental car.
As of June 2017, theskytrainwill be operating using a single train set consisting of two trains.
A train set is capable to accommodate a total of 176 passengers for and will connect the terminal 2 and terminal 3.
In August, three trains with a combined capacity of 528 passengers connecting Terminal 1, Terminal 2, Terminal 3 and integrated building is scheduled to be fully operational.
Theskytrainis expected to make passenger mobility more quickly with the maximum of five minutes intervals and only seven minutes to get from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3.
