Brilio.net - Parts of Indonesia are currently being showered with rain, increasing the risk of encountering leeches . These small animals are often found in damp areas such as rice fields, forests, and puddles, so they can stick without being noticed.

Leeches (Hirudinea) are parasitic animals that live by sucking the blood of other creatures, including humans. Once attached, leeches are difficult to remove because they have an anti-coagulant that prevents blood from clotting and allows them to suck longer.

For humans, leech bites are not only uncomfortable but can also leave scars and itching. Most people think the best way to remove them is to sprinkle salt, because salt can make leeches release their bites due to dehydration.

However, in certain conditions, salt is not always available, so it is necessary to find other more practical alternatives. One simple way that can be done is to use mosquito repellent lotion that is easy to find.

This trick was shared by the Instagram account @isniartiemy in a video. In the upload, someone is seen being bitten by a leech between their fingers, but remains calm and does not panic.

Instead of using salt, the person immediately poured mosquito repellent lotion such as Soffell or Autan onto the attached leech. It didn't take long for the leech to release its bite and fall off on its own.

Anti-mosquito lotions contain aromas, flavors and active substances that leeches don't like. When exposed to lotion, leeches feel disturbed and threatened, so they choose to escape rather than continue sucking blood.

Once the leech is off, immediately clean the bite with alcohol or antiseptic fluid to prevent infection. If bleeding occurs, cover the wound with a bandage and change it regularly until it is completely healed.

As a parasitic animal, leeches are actually harmless but can still cause discomfort to humans. With this trick, you can more easily remove leeches without having to worry about finding salt while in the open.
