Brilio.net - Poverty is often an endless circle that is difficult to break through. Many people have to go through a long journey, full of struggle, and sacrifice to be able to escape the suffocating trap of economic hardship.
For one woman, the journey took decades. This story was shared by a TikTok user with the account @bebansuami2022.
In the video he uploaded, he tells the story of his life journey full of twists and turns and the big decisions he made to escape poverty. It was not an instant thing, it took him 40 years to be able to enjoy his life today.
"It took me 40 years to get out of poverty," he said, quoted by brilio.net , Thursday (5/12).
The journey began when he decided to travel at the age of 13. The decision to leave his hometown was certainly not easy. Especially at a young age.
"I decided to leave home at the age of 13. Even though I was only a maid at that time, I was determined to get out of a very, very difficult life," she explained.

Starting from a job as a domestic helper, she began to learn to be independent. After a few years, she took a bigger step by moving to Jakarta, although the struggle in the capital was not easy.
"Was it an immediate success in Jakarta? No," he said.
The big challenge comes from the lack of education and experience. Even so, strong determination keeps him going through the harshness of life.
He also shared about his decision to move away from his hometown people in order to maintain focus and determination not to return to the cycle of poverty.
"When I meet a guy from the village, I don't get close to him right away. I don't want to end up in the village like my other 10 siblings," she said firmly.

Although reluctant at first, she eventually met her husband who also came from the village. However, their shared struggle did not end there.
Together with her husband, she continues to struggle to improve their standard of living. According to her, every success requires endless struggle, even though the road is not always smooth.
"If you look at my life now, I'm comfortable, when other people are relaxed with their lives, I've been serious for a long time," he said.
Another big decision she and her husband made was choosing not to have children. The woman explained that this decision was made in order to maintain financial stability. By choosing to be childfree, they can focus on financial achievements such as owning a house and saving.
"The most expensive thing in our life is one child, two houses, three cars, for us, our lifestyle, we have eliminated the first one. Children, we eliminated. That is why we have a house," he explained.

She also emphasized the importance of making decisions that are in line with life priorities. Therefore, she and her husband chose to own a house first before considering other things, such as a private vehicle.
"We are pioneers, starting from minus. That's why when it's plus, we are very, very mindful, because we have the awareness that a car is something expensive," he said.
The decision was not without mature reasons. Since they only live together in an apartment, he felt he did not need a car for their daily life.
"If we were just the two of us, our priorities would also be different," he said in a relaxed tone.

He added that their lifestyle is very different from most people who often travel out of town. For him, this kind of decision is a form of adjustment to their current needs and conditions.
"Because we also live in an apartment in Jakarta, we don't have to pay for anything. It's easy, and we rarely go far away," he said.
