Brilio.net - Towels with a soft texture provide more comfort than rough towels when used to dry the body. The soft texture makes the skin feel smoother when rubbed with a towel. Unfortunately, the softness of the towel cannot last long with repeated use.
After several times of use, washing, and drying, the towel's fluff will become rough and uncomfortable when in contact with the skin. The towel's ability to absorb water will also decrease significantly. The condition of the towel that has hardened and become rough makes it uncomfortable to use.
Many people choose not to use their rough towels anymore and just throw them away. Some others use them as rags or mats as an alternative use. In fact, rough towels can still be reused if washed with the right method.
Some people apply special techniques in washing and cleaning towels that have become rough. One popular method is to mix vinegar and detergent as a towel cleaning agent. Vinegar is believed to have the ability to restore the softness of towels that have been lost.
In addition to vinegar, there are other alternative ingredients that can be used to restore the softness of towels. YouTube user @Gianola Vlog has shared this information through a video she uploaded. She found that certain kitchen ingredients are more effective than vinegar in restoring the softness of rough towels.
As reported by Brilio.net from YouTube Gianola Vlog on Monday (7/4), the kitchen ingredient in question is baking soda. Well, this baking soda will later be mixed with detergent. However, for maximum results, the detergent used is liquid in texture.
For the process, you can wash this towel as usual. However, in the video, YouTube user @Gianola Vlog chose to use a washing machine. That way, the washing process will be easier and faster.

The method is, simply by putting enough detergent and baking soda into the washing machine. After that, put 3-4 rough towels in it. Then close the washing machine and turn it on until the machine stops.

Before drying, make sure the towel is completely dry. Then dry it under the sun. If the sun is hot, the towel will dry in 1 hour. Well, avoid drying the towel for too long so that the fibers of the towel become smoother.

Basically, baking soda does not only make towels soft again. But baking soda also has a function to brighten the color of the towel. Therefore, the color becomes brighter and even looks like new.
Towels should be changed and washed every 34 uses or about two to three times a week, depending on the frequency of use and humidity. Damp towels that are frequently used without being washed can become a breeding ground for bacteria, fungi, and unpleasant odors.
If used after bathing, towels should be dried perfectly in a place with good air circulation. To maintain optimal cleanliness, wash towels with hot water and detergent so that germs are completely killed and the towel fibers remain clean and durable.
