Brilio.net - The relocation of the nation's capital to the Indonesian Capital (IKN) in East Kalimantan is one of the major decisions in Indonesian history. President Jokowi emphasized that this relocation is not just a personal project , but a decision that represents the will of the people.
In his remarks at the Baznas National Coordination Meeting on September 26, 2024, Jokowi stated that the process of moving the capital city from Jakarta to the IKN had been approved by the People's Representative Council (DPR) with a majority of votes, namely 93 percent of party representatives in Senayan.
"The transfer of the capital city from Jakarta to IKN is a decision of the people represented by the people's representatives," said Jokowi.
However, the IKN development process still draws a lot of criticism. Especially related to the condition of the infrastructure that has not been fully completed.
The State Palace and Garuda Palace, two important icons of the new government center, are still under construction ahead of the inauguration scheduled for October 2024. These two buildings, together with the Coordinating Ministry Office (Kemenko), are being built in the Core Government Center Area (KIPP).
Recently, a video has been circulating on social media showing the condition of the back of the Palace Building in the IKN which is far from perfect. The video uploaded by the X account @NenkMonica shows large mounds of earth still scattered in the area behind the building.
"Behind the Palace," reads the caption in the video, quoted by brilio.net , Sunday (29/9).

Sand trucks seen working around the area indicate that construction is still underway. Additionally, a skyscraper that is also under construction appears to be in the structural stages, indicating that much work is yet to be completed.
Seeing the condition of the IKN which is not yet 100 percent complete, even though it is about to be inaugurated, made the account owner mock Jokowi. He related the problem of Jokowi feeling uncomfortable when he spent the night at the Garuda Palace in July 2024.
"No wonder Mulyonno doesn't feel at home in the IKN," he quipped.

At that time, Acting Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono said that Jokowi could not sleep well when he spent the night at the Garuda Palace. The problem was not the unfinished construction, but the air conditioning in the president's room.
"Yes (Jokowi didn't sleep well), because of the AC," said Basuki.

The video received various responses from netizens, especially those who questioned the readiness of the IKN as a new capital city. One comment said that the front of the Garuda Palace looked magnificent, but the back looked neglected.
"Is it only the front part that's good? For camera needs?" commented @hadilocoboy.
"This part is never seen by IKN influencers," commented @olvarious.
"Like a building that is not filled for 2 periods," added @bacotthink.
"What's the design like? There's a main road behind the palace? There should be a spacious area around the palace, lots of gardens, so this is like an abandoned palace. Who is the architect of the palace? There's nothing good about it," criticized @Sukirman2019.
Although Jokowi and the government are trying to ensure that the construction of the IKN will be completed on time, many parties are still questioning the readiness of the existing facilities and infrastructure. As the inauguration approaches, public attention continues to be focused on the condition of the IKN, especially the State Palace and Garuda Palace, which are expected to become new symbols of Indonesia's progress.
