Brilio.net - Thermoses are generally designed with a glass tube on the inside. This tube has thick walls that are able to retain heat, so that the stored water remains warm for hours.

However, over time, the tube in the thermos can become damaged. One common problem is the appearance of small holes in the tube, which causes water to leak out. As a result, the temperature of the water, which was initially hot, can drop quickly.

To overcome this problem, many people use aluminum foil as a patch on the hole. Aluminum is believed to be able to maintain hot temperatures, so that the water in the thermos does not cool easily.

In addition to using aluminum, there is another more practical method. This method was once shared by a YouTube user named SINAR TEKNIK. In one of his videos, it was explained that the thermos used had a similar problem, where the water inside cooled faster.

"It turns out that after checking, on the valve (cylinder insulator), the bottom of the thermos, there is a small hole," explained YouTube SINAR TEKNIK as quoted by brilio.net on Tuesday (25/3).

The insulator on a thermos tube is generally made of rubber. Well, this insulator functions to support the glass tube so that it does not come into direct contact with the outer plastic tube. In addition, the insulator is also useful as a heat barrier so that it does not spread out.

When this insulator is perforated or damaged, it is very likely that the object cannot retain heat well. As a result, when the thermos is used to store hot water, the temperature can quickly change to cold. To fix this problem, YouTube user SINAR TEKNIK only uses a glue gun which tends to be easier to find at home.

The method is to immediately cover the perforated part using the glue gun. Make sure the hole can be closed properly and tightly. After applying glue, let it sit for a while until the glue dries.

Once dry, you can reinstall the glass tube in the thermos container. Then tighten the bottom of the thermos until it is completely tight. Now, this thermos can be reused to store hot water. Guaranteed the temperature will be more stable and will not quickly turn cold because the insulator is completely tight.

Tricks for storing ice cubes in a thermos to keep them cold.

1. Use a good quality thermos.

Choose a thermos with a thick layer of insulation that can hold cold temperatures longer. Stainless steel thermoses with vacuum technology are more effective in keeping ice frozen.

2. Cool the thermos before use.

Before adding ice cubes, fill the thermos with cold water or ice water for a few minutes, then pour out the water. This helps lower the temperature in the thermos so the ice doesn't melt as quickly.

3. Fill the thermos with ice.

Filling the thermos to the brim with ice cubes can slow down the melting process. If there is too much empty space, the warm air inside can speed up the melting of the ice.

4. Add salt.

Sprinkling a little salt on the ice cubes can help maintain a lower temperature and slow down melting.

5. Use large ice cubes.

Larger ice cubes or blocks melt more slowly than smaller or shaved ice. If possible, use thicker ice cubes so they last longer.

6. Close the thermos tightly.

Make sure the thermos lid is tightly closed to prevent warm air from entering and accelerating the melting of ice.

7. Store in a cool place.

Avoid placing the thermos in direct sunlight or in a hot place. Store it in a shaded area to keep the temperature stable.
