Firefighters ( damkar ) are often thought to only be tasked with putting out fires when a fire occurs. However, in fact, their duties are much broader! They are the front line in various emergency situations, including saving humans and animals in danger.
One of the heroic moments occurred in the city of Palu, where a resident reported that his cat was choking on a fish bone. This emergency report was received exactly at midnight on Saturday, January 18, 2025, by the Palu City Fire and Rescue Command Center.
Realizing the importance of quick action, the Palu City Fire and Rescue Service (Damkarmat) Rescue Team immediately prepared themselves to rush to the location and carry out the evacuation. In a situation like this, every second counts!
The evacuation took about 20 minutes and involved five personnel from the rescue team. Upon arrival at the location, the team worked with the cat's owner to handle the incident.

Armed with special experience and skills, they managed to safely remove the fish bone stuck in the cat's throat. The entire process was carried out with great care so as not to cause further injury to the animal.
Thanks to good coordination between the rescue team and the cat's owner, the incident was successfully handled without complications. Although it was dramatic, the cat was saved without additional injuries. Seen in one of the photos, the cat being carried by its owner looks cheerful again.
