As millennial generation rely heavily on anything digital, convenient, easy and simple, increasing offers of digital life-hacking solutions such as online shops, online transportation system, online food delivery, and even online beauty care began to flourish in shape of startups.
As digital media so pervades their lives, they cannot imagine living without it. Digital content and communication literally enables their social lives. However, their needs are beyond digital things. As challenges and competitions in their life are increasingly tough, they dont have time for troublesome stuffs, such as buying a new mattress.
Well, if youve never been moving to a new city or place, you might not realize how overwhelming the mattress-shopping process would be.
Imagine spending your precious weekend to navigate big-box stores, eyeing less-various mattress types with headache inducing price tags; and lets not forget about the burdensome task of transporting the mattress from the store to your new home or apartment, and every cost related to it.
But you just cannot sleep on used cardboard, right?
One startup smartly offers a solution that never been thought before, in a form of... mattress.
But its not just another mattress, as their customers said. Casper delivers millennial-friendly mattresses in box at surprisingly low prices. Launched in April 2014, the startup has generated a lot of buzz, popping up in the Instagram photos of celebrities such as Ashley Greene, Kat Graham, Emmy Rossum and Kylie Jenner.
When the Kardashian-Jenners youngest sister moved into her new US$2.7 million mansion, guess what was the first thing she unpacked? You name it, her Casper mattress!
But whats the reason behind the hype?
Just as we know, successful startups provide ultimate solution to mass problem. The bed-in-a-box startup eliminates the frustrations associated with traditional mattress shopping, thanks to its online shopping method, hassle-free shipping system, and free trial period.
For further simplification, Casper only have one kind of mattress in standard six sizes sizes, from US$500 twin sized mattress, to US$950 California king-sized bed.
Increasing hype for these mattress among celebrities has brought fortune to the startup, in a form of celebrity funding. After Caspers earning US$1 million in revenue in its first month, investors like Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Adam Levine, and Ashton Kutcher's A-Grade Investments decided to hop in bed with the company.
The question is, does the product actually stand up to all the hype? Chloe Nguyen from Popsugar tried one of them herself.
After completely unpacked, the mattress bulged up and came to life.
