The author of the book 'JokowiUndercover', Bambang TriMulyonofiled an appeal against his three-year imprisonment sentence the Blora District Court dropped on Monday.
"I declared an appeal,"Bambangsaid.
Bambangeven more claimed that he will replace all his lawyers he considered failed to defend him in the defamation case.
Bambanggot into trouble after he launched a book titled 'JokowiUndercover' in which allegedly has statements of insult, defamation and libel against PresidentJokoWidodo. The book was also said to contain statements that could incite interracial andinter-religionconflict.
Bambangwas arrested on Dec. 31, 2016 inBloraand was taken to Jakarta for questioning.
Police then confirmed the case complete and handed it to the Blora District Court on Feb. 27, 2017.
Bambangwas charged under the Law of Information and Electronic Transaction (ITE) no.40/2008 on the Abolition of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination and Article 207 of the Criminal Code on insulting the authorities. The verdict however, was lighter than the prosecutors' demand of a four-year imprisonment.
