Brilio.net - An iron is an important household appliance that makes clothes smooth and neat after washing. It is easy to use, so many people rely on it at home. However, over time, the function of the iron can decrease, especially if not used properly. High temperatures can make clothes sticky and burn, causing black crust stains on the bottom of the iron.

Many people try to clean these stains with water, but this method can damage the iron . Some also use toothpaste to remove the stains. However, a netizen on the YouTube account Guru SMK has a different, more effective way by adding only one kitchen ingredient.

He claims to have another trick to remove burnt spots on the iron. The ingredients used are also quite simple, one of which comes from kitchen ingredients. Reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Guru SMK on Monday (11/25), the ingredients used are water and citric acid. He also added 1 kitchen ingredient, namely dishwashing soap.

Next, dip the toothbrush into the cleaning fluid, then rub it on the bottom of the iron that is covered in burnt spots. Make sure the cleaning fluid does not get inside the iron because it can cause a short circuit.

After brushing, wipe the surface of the iron plate with a dry tissue. The YouTube user appears to repeat the steps until the scorch marks slowly begin to fade, indicated by the foam of the cleaning fluid turning black.

"This foam is black foam. I rubbed it for about 5 minutes. This is because the stain has been there for a long time, so it has hardened. So it has to be done slowly until it is lifted," he explained.

While scrubbing the scorch marks on the iron, the YouTube user also revealed the reason why he didn't use toothpaste to clean the scorch marks. According to him, toothpaste can erode the non-stick coating on the iron.

"If the non-stick layer is eroded, it will become sticky when used for ironing," he added.

After repeating the cleaning steps several times, the burn marks on the iron were completely gone. The result was that the iron was clean again.

"It's clean, smooth," he concluded.

How to care for an iron so that it lasts and is durable.

To maintain the iron so that it lasts and continues to function well, here are some steps for maintenance:

1. Cleaning the iron.

After use, let the iron cool down before cleaning it. Use a soft cloth dampened with water or a special cleaning fluid for irons to clean the surface. Be sure to clean the bottom of the iron if there is any dirt or residue stuck to it.

2. Clean with clean water.

Use clean, mineral-free water to fill the iron's water tank. If the water in your area is hard, consider using distilled or purified water.

3. Use a mixture of vinegar and water to remove scale.

If the iron is scaled due to the use of water that contains high minerals, you can use a mixture of vinegar and water to clean it. Let the mixture soak for a while before cleaning it with a soft cloth.

4. Use a protective cloth when storing the iron.

To protect the iron from dirt and damage, use an iron protective cloth when storing it.

5. Maintain the temperature of the iron.

Do not let the iron get too hot or leave it on for too long without use. This can damage the inside of the iron and increase the risk of fire.

6. Check the cable and plug.

Periodically check the iron's cord and plug to ensure there is no damage that could compromise the use of the iron.

7. Store in a dry place.

Store the iron in a dry and safe place after use. Make sure the iron is completely cool before storing.
