Brilio.net/en - Seminyak, Bali, is an area popular for its high fashion and lifestyle, where people are dressed up and party in style. Lines of classy and hip a la carte restaurants and cafes are everywhere to be seen, but where can we find the Indonesian style food? Go to these warungs (Indonesian style for canteen), all are rich in tastes and options, all ready to be served as you pick them. But be prepared with the climate heat because these places dont have airconsbut then again thats the point of being on a tropical island, isnt it?
1.Warung Sulawesi

Famous for their spicy and tasty Indonesian food, Warung Sulawesi is heaven for domestic immigrants who are tired with western taste. Have some red or yellow steamed rice instead of the white one then add up the meats, fishes and vegetables of your own choices. They serve mostly Manadonese, Sumatran and Sundanese food that are cooked with lots of spices and herbs. The restaurant location is a little hidden at Jl. Petitenget 2000x but inside there is a beautiful garden with outdoor eating space that is nice to spend time at.
2.Warung Kolega

Similar to Warung Sulawesi, Warung Kolega offers more of Javanese food, cooked with more sweetness than savory taste but still rich with spices. They have many options for satay, the Indonesian skewersthe meats on a stick. The humble restaurant has many long tables that you can share with others, allowing people to talk with each other and get new friends. Located in Jl. Petitenget No. 98A, you wouldnt miss this warung with its bright blue paint all over its faade.
3.Warung Ocha

If youre looking for (another) hidden garden in the busy street of Raya Seminyak, Warung Ocha is a great option. The buffet stall is displaying a range of Chinese, Balinese and other Indonesian food, while some western food available to order a la carte. Get your dish plate and bring it inside, where tables are set in a small garden lies for you to enjoy. This warung has obvious red signage in the corner of Jl. Raya Seminyak and Jl. Plawa (right across Jl. Camplung Tanduk) its so easy to find.
4.Warung Italia

Adopting the warung style to Italian food, Warung Italia had been one of Balis favorite restaurants for years. They serve all the lasagnas, grilled meats and salads on the buffet stall, and make the pasta and pizza by order. Check out their crespelle (layers of thin crepe-like pasta with creamy sauce) and melanzane (eggplant) grill, which are my favorites. Owned by an Italian family, the warung offers the authenticity of Italian menu in a different way in Jl. Kunti I No. 2.
5.KZU

Owned by a Japanese chef, KZU offers a clean and modern interior in its restaurants. They serve Japanese, Italian and Balinese food in warung style, while some food are also available to be ordered a la carte. They also serve healthy food such as salads and juices. I would recommend their delicious spinach cream croquette. Located in two places: Jl. Drupadi II and Jl. Sunset Road, both of KZU restaurants are nice places to meet up and eat.
