Ruben Onsu reveals his decision to convert to Islam has nothing to do with his divorce from Sarwendah

Ruben Onsu announced his conversion to Islam on Eid al-Fitr, not because of domestic problems.

The moment of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah became a turning point for Ruben Onsu , when he announced that he had converted to Islam. In a video uploaded on Monday (31/3/2025), Ruben shared his challenging spiritual journey and how he found inner peace amidst life's trials.

At the end of the video, there is an emotional moment when he recites the shahada with the guidance of Habib Usman bin Yahya. " I know, this is the right path, although it is not easy. I believe, this is the best choice ," said Ruben in his monologue.

In the video caption, Ruben wrote, " Assalamualaikum. Maybe this is the time for me to convey it, forgive me if I can only convey it now, because I want to focus on worship ." He emphasized that this decision was taken after careful consideration and had nothing to do with the failure of his marriage to Sarwendah .

Ruben stated, " As a human being, I am not free from mistakes, and I continue to try to improve myself to be better ." He added, " I have thought about all these decisions for a long time, and they have nothing to do with the household I have been in, and this is not because of anyone's coercion ."

Ruben hopes that he can be consistent in living this new path. " Hopefully I can be istiqomah, and through this writing I apologize to anyone, if there are any words and behaviors of mine during this time ," he said.

Ruben Onsu also specifically expressed his gratitude to Habib Usman who has provided guidance so far.

" Thank you to @habibusmanbinyahya for your endless guidance and attention to me who continues to learn. Don't get tired, aunt and @kartikaputriworld who are always kind and never stop encouraging, " wrote Ruben.

This gratitude was reciprocated with prayers from Habib Usman, who hoped that Ruben would always be given blessings and steadfastness in living his life.
