This film is a collaboration between Palari Films and director Yosep Anggi Noen in collaboration with Legacy Pictures and Showbox, a South Korean studio that produced the box office film "Exhuma". Starring Happy Salma, Putri Marino, and Bhisma Mulia. Welcoming the release of the film in theaters on October 17, 2024, Palari Films released the official poster and trailer of the film "Tebusan Dosa" through the official social media account @palarifilms.
On the official poster released, the five characters consisting of Wening (Happy Salma), Tirta (Putri Marino), Tetsuya (Shogen), Nirmala, and Uti Yah are clearly shown through the reflection of the river flow where Nirmala disappeared. Then in the middle of the poster there is an origami crane that symbolizes Wening's hope of meeting Nirmala, her daughter, again.
The film Tebusan Dosa follows the story of Wening, a mother who experiences a tragic event when Nirmala, her 11-year-old child, is lost in a motorcycle accident on a bridge. The accident also claimed the life of Uti Yah, Wenings mother. Wening feels very guilty for causing her mother to die and her child to be swept away in the river, but she believes Nirmala is still alive.
Tirta, a female creator of a mystery podcast, is interested in making Wening's tragic life go viral, but her help instead makes Tirta uncover a dark secret from Wening's past that resulted in Nirmala's disappearance.

With all her efforts and full of hope, Wening searches for Nirmala, including asking for help from Tetsuya, a researcher from Japan. Wening also asks for help from Mbah Gowa, a mysterious shaman. However, in the middle of the search, Wening is always visited by the ghost of Uti Yah. Will Wening reunite with Nirmala?
"As a lover of mystery and horror films, I am very enthusiastic to finally have the opportunity to make a film in this genre, and also collaborate for the first time with Anggi Noen," said the producer of the mystery-horror film "Tebusan Sin" Muhammad Zaidy.
"When I started this mystery-horror project, I felt free and had a lot of space to explore the most popular genre in the world. I used that freedom to present different fears and horrors. This horror mystery is wrapped in a mother-daughter relationship drama that is close to our daily lives," explained director Yosep Anggi Noen.
In addition to being the first mystery-horror film directed by Yosep Anggi Noen, Tebusan Sin also marks Putri Marinos first time acting in a mystery-horror genre film.
"As an actress, I feel the need to explore various genres so as not to get stuck in one particular genre. Because if I only focus on one particular genre, I won't be able to test how far my ability is in playing a character. After going through it, it also feels calming because the director is Mas Anggi. If it wasn't Mas Anggi, maybe I wouldn't be this comfortable playing with other actors," said Putri Marino.
The mystery-horror film Tebusan Sin is Palari Films seventh film and its 8th feature-length project in Palari Films eighth year in the industry.
