Brilio.net - Indonesian volleyball athlete Megawati Hangestri has officially extended her contract with the Daejeon Jung Kwan Jang Red Sparks volleyball club. While competing in the Korean Volleyball League last season, Megawati managed to show positive trends and stunning performances. It's no surprise that the Red Sparks don't want to lose one of their flagship players.

The club is reportedly willing to increase Megawati Hangestri's salary this season. According to bola.net, generally the contract system in volleyball only lasts for one season. To get a new contract, of course every player must show their quality throughout the competition.

Megawati is noted to have not only performed brilliantly for the Red Sparks, but also played a role in increasing the club's popularity. Megawati's ability to attract the attention of Indonesian volleyball fans means that every Red Sparks match is always widely watched.

Wednesday (1/5), Red Sparks announced the draft of players to compete in the new season. Megawati Hangestri's name is written on the list confirming the news of the new contract that has been signed. Mega is listed in the squad as the opposite speaker.

This volleyball player who was born in Jember, East Java last season contributed 736 points for the Red Sparks. He was also instrumental in bringing the volleyball team to finish in the top four of the 2023/2024 Korean League.

The Sport Times Korea report, via Naver, said that this season Megawati would receive a salary increase of USD 50,000 at Red Sparks. Last season, the Indonesian female volleyball player is said to have received a salary of USD 100,000 or around Rp. 1.6 billion. Meanwhile, in the new contract, Megawati is said to be receiving a salary of USD 150,000.

The Korean coach, Ko Hee Jin, also gave a statement regarding Megawati Hangestri's contract. He firmly stated that the club and he would not hesitate to give the Indonesian player a contract extension.

He also continued that Megawati made a significant contribution to his team. Megawati is also motivated to play better next season with the Red Sparks.

We decided to renew the contract with Mega without much hesitation. "Mega also wants to show better performance next season," he said.

The team coach is also confident that he will prepare his team well for the upcoming competitive season.

"We will prepare ourselves well to create a good synergy effect from the start of the season," continued Ko Hee-jin.

If converted into rupiah at the current exchange rate, Megawati Hangestri received a payment of IDR 2.4 billion.
