Brilio.net - Indonesian national team goalkeeper legend, Kurnia Meiga , recently his name has emerged again after promoting his emping via social media. He did this because he needed funds for treatment. Since 2017, Kurnia Meiga has been known to suffer from papilledema. Although, now it is slightly better than before, Meiga's vision has not yet recovered 100%.
Apart from selling chips, he also auctioned off several valuable items he obtained while actively playing football. In his post, Meiga sells jerseys and several medals. Some time ago, he also received assistance from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for medical expenses.

Because of this disease, Meiga was forced to hang up his shoes at the golden age of 27 years. The man born in 1990 certainly lost his flashy career because at that time he was still a mainstay for the Arema FC club.
The following is an explanation regarding papilledema, a serious illness suffered by Kurnia Meiga that resulted in the loss of her prestigious career.
What is Papiledema?
According to an article published in the "National Library of Medicine", papilledema is a condition where increased pressure in or around the brain causes part of the optic nerve in the eye to swell. Papilledema can be considered a medical emergency because intracranial hypertension can have serious, even potentially life-threatening consequences.
Reporting from MSD Manuals, the causes of this disease vary, the most common of which is idiopathic intracranial hypertension. Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is characterized by increased pressure inside the skull (intracranial pressure). What triggers this disorder is not yet known. Sufferers often experience headaches every day which are sometimes accompanied by nausea, blurred vision and noises in the head.
Other causes of papilledema are brain tumors, head injuries, bleeding in the brain, inflammation of the brain, blood clots in several large veins of the brain and so on. This condition usually causes papilledema in both eyes.
Symptoms of this disease are changes in vision at a glance. The eyes suddenly blur and the vision becomes double. Apart from that, sufferers usually blink frequently and at worst they lose their vision completely. Other symptoms may be caused by increased pressure in the brain. A pulsing whirring sound in the ears, headache, nausea, vomiting, or a combination of both may occur. This disorder does not cause eye pain.
The thing that must be done when experiencing symptoms of this disease is to immediately take it to the medical staff. For example, if high pressure in the cerebrospinal fluid is caused by a brain tumor, corticosteroids may be given, but surgery to remove the tumor or radiation therapy to reduce its size may be necessary.
Papiledema that occurs due to idiopathic intracranial hypertension can be treated with weight loss and diuretics. If this is not successful, a surgical procedure can be performed. Infections, if caused by bacteria, can be treated with antibiotics.
Ex-wife reveals Kurnia Meiga's illness
Indeed, this kind of treatment does not require a lot of money. Until now, his eyes have not healed, even though Meiga admits that he has undergone various types of treatment. As reported by bola.com, he was treated by 5 specialist doctors. However, instead of recovering, the Arema FC goalkeeper was allowed to go home because he was deemed to have no problems.

Meiga conveyed this in his podcast with Deddy Corbuzer that until now there has been no conclusion regarding his illness. In fact, Meiga admitted that he did not take any medication because the doctor did not prescribe it. The doctor thought he had no problem.
"I just took medicine, uncle didn't give it to me, because there is no patent disease. There is no name for the disease, uncle," said Meiga.
However, his ex-wife Azhiera Adzka Fathir in her podcast with Denny Sumargo conveyed different things regarding Meiga's illness. Azhiera said that her ex-husband's illness was caused by alcohol. This was also based on the doctor's diagnosis after examining the former national goalkeeper's eyes.

The woman who is familiarly called Azizah said that her ex-husband had a bad habit, namely consuming alcohol. Meiga even did this at the age of 18. Azizah herself did not know about this habit and it was only revealed when they decided to get married. They officially separated in February 2023.
