Brilio.net/en - Her feed isnt particularly curated. Her pictures are organic and real. Sometimes blurry, often cute and usually stunning. She shows snaps of herself with her fans and even has some glamor shots, but theyre not over the top like other young stars (looking at you, Jenner clan.)
No doubt its that down-to-earth approach to social media that has amassed Selena Gomez more than 90 million followers on Instagram, with an average of 200,000 new followers daily, another 60 million likes on Facebook and over 43 million loyal supporters on Twitter. This totals her social media audience to around 200 million.
Thats a pretty staggering number for a former Disney starlet, especially one whose musical career isnt always the first ranking on charts.
The kicker? She doesnt exploit it like many celebs, even if she could be making a pretty penny from her posts. According to D'Marie, just one of her social media posts is worth $550,000, based on 56 metrics including followers, post frequency, engagement, quality of post, click-through and potential to create sales conversions from her social content. Which could mean big bucks from sponsors, but she limits hers to a select few, including Coca-Cola, Pantene and K-Mart, keeping her feed relatively free of sponsored content.
Her seemingly carefree attitude has created an all-around wholesome girl-next-door vibe to her Instagram account, that comes as a breath of fresh air. She told the Hollywood Reporter that she post the pics naturally, without much thought. It comes in a moment when I capture something happening, and I go, 'Oh, that would be great for Instagram. I should post it.
She also says her tour manager takes most of the pics and that they arent staged, as some have accused her of.
Her formula is definitely study material for budding social media starlets.

And her fans are clearly digging the laid back peek into the celebs life. A photo of her sipping on a personalized bottle of Coca Cola got an astounding 4 million likes, breaking Instagram records.
The 24-year old starlet was also one of the first to jump on Instagrams video feature, which she has continued to utilize, with her most recent video clip of her walking through a party and jumping into a pool getting a casual 9 million views.
While we probably wont get anywhere near as many followers as Ms. Gomez, we can all take note of her authentic attitude on social media. Filters dont make you any cooler than you actually are, so just stick to your own true colors, and the followers will come pouring in.
Smizing for the fans. (Image via NY Daily News)
