Keep a close eye on these signs and you will get an exclusive look into what other people are thinking

Brilio.net/en - Admit it, sometimes you would die to know whats going on inside another persons mind?

But actually, satisfying your curiosity of whats inside the others head is easier than you think. Their body languages will speak directly to you, provide an amazing amount of information of what other people are thinking, if only you know what to look for.

According to author Dr. Travis Bradberry, you already pick up on more body language cues than youre consciously aware of. A UCLA research has indicated that 7% of communication is based on the verbal words we say. As much as 38% comes from tone of voice, and the remaining 55% comes from body language. Well, thats a huge amount.

So, next time youre in a meeting, a date or a play date with your kids, as suggested by Dr. Bradberry, keep a close eye on these signs and you will get an exclusive look into what other people are thinking:

1. Crossing arms and legs

Both are signals of resistance to your ideas. Crossed arms and legs are physical barriers that suggest the person youre talking to is not open to what youre saying. Even if theyre smiling and engaged in a pleasant conversation, their body language tells the truth.

Psychologically, crossed legs or arms signal indicates that a person is mentally, emotionally, and physically blocked from whats in front of them. Its so revealing of their opinions because such body languages arent done intentionally.

2. Smiling without crinkles in the corner of the eyes

The mouth can lie, but the eyes simply cant. Especially if it comes to smiling. Genuine smiles reach the eyes, crinkling the skin to create crows feet around them. People often smile to cover what theyre really thinking and feeling inside. People who smile without crinkles is often hiding something. Or maybe, they just have gotten a recent dose of botox.

3. Mirroring your body language

Have you ever been in a meeting with someone and noticed that everytime you lean back against the backrest, or every time you cross and uncross your legs, they do the same? Perhaps they lean their heads the same way as yours when talking? Thats actually a good sign.

Copying others body language is something we do unconsciously when we feel connected with that person. It indicates that the conversation is going well and that the other party is receptive to messages you convey. You can try to observe whether the other person is copying your gesture while negotiating to get what the person is really thinking about the deal.

The fact is, your posture reveals the story. Have you ever seen a person walk into a room, and immediately, you have known that they were the one in charge?

Standing up straight with your shoulders back is a power of stance; it maximizes the amount of space you fill. Slouching, on the other hand, which is the result of collapsing your form through your shoulders and back, appears to take up less space and projects less power. Maintaining good posture commands respect and promotes engagement, whether youre in a leading position or not.

4. Holding their gaze

Look at me in the eye when talking to me! How often have we heard this line? We probably grew up with that as our parents assuming that liars cant hold a gaze. Well, they were right to an extent.

But current public secret reveals that people, on the other hand, often deliberately hold eye contact in an attempt to cover up the fact that theyre lying. Problem is, most of them tend to overdo it to the point that it feels uncomfortable. On average, people hold eye contact for seven to ten seconds before they blink. It could be longer when theyre listening than when theyre talking.

So, if someones stare is starting to make you squirm, especially if theyre very still and unblinking, you can assume that something is up and they might be lying you.

5. Raising their eyebrows

Its a signal of discomfort. In fact, there are at least three main emotions that make your eyebrows rise: surprise, worry and fear. To get the idea, try raising your eyebrows when youre having a relaxed casual conversation with a friend. Its hard to do, isnt it?

So, if somebody who is talking to you raises their eyebrows and the topic isnt one that would logically cause surprise, worry, or fear, there is something else going on.

6. Nodding exaggeratedly

Its a signal of anxiety about approval. When youre discussing something with some friends and they nod excessively, it means that they are worried about what you think of them or that you doubt their ability to follow your instructions.

7. Clenched jaws

A clenched jaw, a tightened neck, or a furrowed brow are all signs of stress. No matter what the person is saying, these are signs of considerable discomfort. When you find someone unintentionally showing one or more of these signs, their mind might be elsewhere as theyre focusing on the thing thats stressing them out.

To wrap it up, even if you exactly know whats inside a persons mind, you can learn a lot from their body language. Its especially true when words and body language dont match.
