Brilio.net - The actions of a fake beauty doctor that went viral on social media have become the public spotlight. The video showing the facial treatment process carried out by a woman named Ria from Malang, has made many netizens feel horrified.

This video was first uploaded by two celebrity doctors, Dr. Oky Pratama and Dr. Eklendro Senduk, via their Instagram accounts on Wednesday, December 4, 2024. In the video, Ria is seen performing a medical procedure that does not meet safety standards. She rubs the patient's facial skin until it bleeds profusely without wearing surgical clothing or a mask.

Ria only wore a pink mini dress with her hair down. The tools used were also far from sterile. She used packaged tissues to wipe the blood that came out of the patient's skin which was at high risk of causing infection. This action sparked criticism from various parties, including the two doctors.

Not long after, the Directorate of General Criminal Investigation (Ditreskrimum) of Polda Metro Jaya moved quickly to arrest Ria. The police arrested the owner of Ria Beauty in a hotel room in the Kuningan area, South Jakarta on Sunday (7/12). Ria was arrested with a woman who is suspected to be her assistant named DN.

After further investigation, Ria ran an unlicensed beauty clinic called Ria Beauty domiciled in Malang, East Java. The perpetrator promoted the beauty clinic through an Instagram account with the name @RiaBeauty.id.

Surprisingly, the Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Senior Commissioner Ade Ary Syam Indradi, confirmed that Ria did not have a medical background. She turned out to be a fisheries graduate.

"There is someone who practices as a medical professional even though the person concerned does not have the qualifications, does not have a practice permit. The suspect has a bachelor's degree in fisheries," said Ade Ary as quoted by Liputan6.com.

However, Ria lists various certification titles in her Instagram bio, such as Dipl. Cosme and Dipl. Psychology, to gain customers' trust.

Ria's courage to open this beauty clinic is based on a number of trainings she has attended. Police Commissioner Syarifah Chaira Sukma, Head of Sub-Directorate of Renakta Ditreskrimum Polda Metro Jaya, explained that Ria improved her skills autodidactically.

"He took part in several training sessions and finally he improved," he said.

Ria's practice uses a derma roller tool that does not have a distribution permit. This method involves rubbing the skin until it bleeds to stimulate skin regeneration. Unfortunately, the anesthetic cream and serum used are also not registered with the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency (BPOM).

Even so, Ria's marketing strategy on social media is quite unique. She often shows off sexy clothes while doing treatments, thus attracting the attention of netizens.

However, customers did not check her background further. Many only realized that Ria was a fisheries graduate and not a licensed beautician.

From the illegal business she runs, she earns big financial results. In a day, Ria can serve up to 15 customers with a rate of Rp 15 million per treatment.

"The turnover reaches IDR 200 million per month," said Kompol Syarifah.

However, the benefits must be paid dearly with the legal trap that now befalls her. Ria is being charged with Article 435 in conjunction with Article 138 paragraph (2) and/or paragraph (3) and Article 439 in conjunction with Article 41 paragraph (2) of Law No. 17 of 2023 concerning Health. The threat of punishment is up to 12 years in prison or a maximum fine of IDR 5 billion.
