Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has had his fair share of protests by religious groups who are not too happy with having a non-Muslim in the capital's top seat, but he is not the only minority leader facing such backlash.
More recently in Jogjakarta, a group of local residents in Pajangan, Bantul, put together a petition demanding Yulius Suharta, their Catholic sub-district chief to step down.
A number of members of the Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) also backed the petition, which has been passed to the Bantul Regent.
We met with Yulius himself and two DPRD members opposing his leadership to further elaborate their stance on the issue.
