Pineapples are known as fresh fruit because they are rich in water content. On the other hand, this fruit is also liked because it has many benefits for the body. Reporting from health.clevelandclinic.org, pineapple is high in vitamins and minerals to help fight inflammation, improve digestion, lose weight, and so on.

Pineapples are also easy to find in traditional markets, fruit shops or supermarkets. After bringing pineapple home, sometimes many people are confused about how to detect the ripeness of the fruit flesh. If you make a mistake, the pineapple you consume might still be sour and have a hard texture, you know.

One of the easiest tricks is to observe the color of the skin. If there is more yellow than green on the skin, usually the pineapple is ripe. On the other hand, the celebrity chef known as Vindy Lee explained that you can actually detect whether a pineapple is ripe by inhaling its smell.

The trick in question is to remove one of the leaves or crown of the pineapple fruit, especially the one in the middle. According to Vindy Lee, if the pulling process is easy, you can be sure the pineapple is ripe and ready to be consumed.

He also did the same thing to another pineapple. Apparently, the leaves or crown are still hard enough to be removed. This means that the pineapple can be left alone or marinated until it is completely ripe before peeling and eating. "This is a bit difficult, it's still not mature enough," he stressed, quoted by BrilioFood from TikTok @vindyleetiktok on Wednesday (31/7).

Vindy Lee also shares tricks to make cutting pineapple easier. First, cut and set aside the top and tail of the pineapple using a knife. Then split the pineapple in the middle, so that it becomes two parts. After that, lay the pineapple pieces face down on a cutting board. Then, cut the pineapple into pieces following the skin pattern. Vindy Lee calls these pineapple pieces cross-cut.

If it has been cut crosswise, the pineapple is ready to serve. Vindy Lee usually sprinkles pineapple with a little salt first, because according to her salt can make the fruit taste sweeter.
