Brilio.net - Coconut milk is one of the food ingredients that is often used when making typical Indonesian dishes. Using coconut milk can really make dishes taste more delicious and appetizing.
Even though there is instant coconut milk sold on the market, some people still rely on coconut milk directly from coconuts, you know. Even though peeling coconuts is a fairly difficult job. Remember that coconuts have a thick layer of skin and the shell has a hard texture.
Because it is difficult to open, some people deliberately pry the coconut with sharp tools. Even though this method carries the risk of injuring your hands, you know. Not to mention, the resulting coconut meat will actually be destroyed without shape. So how do you remove the coconut meat from the shell?
You can watch a video shared by Instagram user @sweetycrafting. In his video upload, it appears he has his own trick to remove the coconut meat from the shell.
Reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @sweetycrafting on Tuesday (6/2), the first step is to put enough water in the pan. Place the pan on the stove and heat it until it boils.
When it boils, add the coconut into it. Don't forget, he also added one kitchen ingredient, namely salt, to the pan. Reporting from mentalfloss.com, adding salt can raise the boiling point of water. As a result, the cooking water will get hotter and quickly soften the coconut shell.

It doesn't need to be too long, just boil the coconut for 15 minutes in boiling water. If so, turn off the heat then remove and drain the coconut. Place the coconut on a hard surface. Open the bottom end of the coconut with a knife.
"Drain the milk (drain the water in it)," said the video owner.

Once done, split the coconut into two parts. You can see white coconut flesh on both parts. Because it has been boiled in a salt solution beforehand, the coconut meat is easy to remove from the shell. Just pry off the inside of the coconut flesh using the tip of a knife. Without expending extra effort, the coconut meat will immediately come off by itself.

The loose coconut meat can be collected together in a container. If you want to make coconut milk, just blend the collected coconut meat.
