Brilio.net - Rice is a source of carbohydrates consumed by the majority of people. It's no surprise that cooking rice is an everyday activity. In fact, quite a few people cook rice in large quantities so they can eat it all day long.
However, in some cases, cooked rice is not consumed completely. Like it or not, leftover rice must be stored in the refrigerator so it can be consumed the next day.
Even though it lasts a long time, when rice is stored in the refrigerator, the texture becomes hard. When you want to eat it again, of course the rice must be warmed first so that it becomes soft again.
There are many ways to reheat leftover rice, one of which is by adding water and then cooking it again. Unfortunately, if you don't measure the water correctly, the texture of the rice will be too soft.
As a solution, there are other ways that can be practiced to warm rice , without re-cooking it. The method was demonstrated by Instagram user @ummubalqishaura. In his video upload, this netizen didn't even use a rice cooker at all in the process of heating the remaining rice.
How to warm up rice so that it is fluffy again even without cooking it in a rice cooker.
As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @ummubalqishaura on Thursday (25/4), he only needed a pan. The remaining rice can be put into the pan. If so, make a hole in the middle of the rice then put a cup.
"Try to make sure the pot or bowl doesn't break easily," he explained.

Next, pour boiling water into the cup until it is completely filled. Then cover the pan and let it sit. This process is carried out with the stove fire off.

After letting it sit for a while, hot steam could be seen filling the lid of the pan. This indicates that there is a cooking process in the pan. When it has been left for a while, open the lid of the pan.

The resulting rice is fluffy and warm again.

An easy way to deal with rice that is too soft.
Overcoming rice that is too soft can be done in several ways. Here are several methods you can try.
1. Re-boil the rice.
If the rice is still too wet or mushy, you can boil it again. Pour the rice into a saucepan or rice cooker, add a little water (if necessary), and boil over medium heat until desired mushyness is achieved. Make sure not to boil for too long so that the rice doesn't become too soft.
2. Bake in the oven.
If you have an oven, you can spread the rice on a baking sheet and bake in the oven at a low temperature (around 150C) for a few minutes. This process will help dry out the rice and make it a little drier.
3. Dry pan.
After boiling the rice, leave the pot uncovered and let the steam evaporate for a few minutes to dry the rice. You can also leave the rice pot open for a while after the rice is cooked so that the steam can evaporate.
4. Drain longer.
After boiling the rice, let the rice drain in a colander or drainer for a few minutes longer than usual. This will help remove excess water and make the rice drier.
5. Add cornstarch.
If the rice is too soft and difficult to handle, you can mix a little cornstarch with the rice. The cornstarch will help absorb the excess moisture in the rice and make it drier.
After you try one or more of the methods above, taste the rice and adjust it to your liking. If the rice is still too soft after trying the method above, you can use it to make fried rice dishes or rice cakes.
