Brilio.net - Cassava chips are made from thinly sliced cassava and fried until crispy. Usually, these chips are enjoyed with various flavors such as balado, sweet and spicy, or just salt. Making cassava chips looks easy, but many fail to make them dry. Instead of being crispy, the chips can become hard or soft because they absorb a lot of oil when fried.

To overcome this problem, some people use special ingredients such as soaking cassava in lime water or baking soda. Both of these ingredients are believed to make cassava slices crispier when fried. However, there is another trick that is also effective in making crispy cassava chips. A YouTube user named Sean Silin once shared a simple way to make cassava chips without lime or baking soda, but with other ingredients that are no less effective.

Reported by BrilioFood from YouTube Sean Silin on Tuesday (10/22), the YouTube user used hot water. To be more precise, prepare the cassava to be processed. Then slice it thinly. The thinner the shape, the crispier it can be, you know.

After that, wash the cassava slices thoroughly. Do the washing process several times until the water in which the cassava is soaked becomes clear and the starch is gone. Well, this will prevent the cassava from sticking or sticking to each other when fried. If so, drain the cassava and transfer it to a container.

Before soaking in hot water, add 1 tbsp of salt to add a savory salty taste to the cassava chips later. Next, pour hot water until the cassava is completely submerged and stir until the salt is evenly mixed. Then soak and let the cassava sit for 2-3 hours.

After soaking, drain the cassava. Make sure the cassava is completely dry so that the result can be crispy and not oily when fried. Once done, fry the cassava in heated oil.

Fry the cassava until crispy and golden brown using medium heat. Don't forget to turn the cassava over during the frying process so that it cooks evenly. When it's dry, remove and drain. Because it's been soaked in hot water, the cassava is super crispy and not oily. It's perfect as a snack.
