Brilio.net - Blood cockles have a chewy meat texture. After being cooked, it tastes delicious. No wonder this one ingredient is often processed into various menus. This type of seafood can even be cooked with all methods, such as boiled, grilled, or steamed. The uniqueness of its savory taste makes blood cockles a favorite among seafood lovers.
Unfortunately, when it is about to be consumed, it is important to pay attention to the cleanliness of the omelet clams before cooking. These clams live in muddy habitats, so they often contain sand and dirt. Therefore, cleaning the omelet properly before processing is an important step to ensure that the dish to be served is safe and hygienic.
However, cleaning cockles is also a challenge for many people. Because mud and sand can stick between the small shells. To remove the sand, the cockles need to be brushed one by one to be maximally clean. Although this process is certainly very time-consuming and laborious.
But besides the method, there is another trick that can be done to clean the blood cockles more energy-efficiently. This trick was once shared by Instagram user @eka_aprilyanti through one of the uploaded videos. She admitted to only relying on one kitchen ingredient to clean the blood cockles.
As reported by BrilioFood from Instagram @eka_aprilyanti on Monday (8/26), the kitchen ingredient in question is baking soda. Well, this baking soda functions to remove mud and dirt that is still stuck to the surface of the shellfish. Therefore, the blood cockles can be cleaned more easily.

Next, stir until the baking soda is well mixed and dissolved in the water. Then soak the cockles for about 10-15 minutes. After soaking, brush the top of the cockles in a circular motion to remove mud and dirt.

Once brushed, discard the soaking water that is already full of mud. Then add more water and brush the surface of the cockle directly in large quantities in the same direction, namely in a circular motion. This will make the mud completely disappear. After that, discard and refill with new water. Do this process until the soaking water becomes clear and not dirty, because this indicates that the cockle is also clean from mud.
"Here I repeated it 5 times. It's okay 5 times compared to having to brush them one by one," said Instagram @eka_aprilyanti.
