Brilio.net - Cassava is a food ingredient that is rich in carbohydrates. The starch content in it is believed to provide a feeling of fullness after consuming it. This makes cassava often used as an alternative to rice in the food menu.
In addition to providing a feeling of fullness, cassava can also be processed into various dishes. One of the simplest ways to process cassava is to boil it. Boiled cassava is often enjoyed because it goes well with various side dishes or other vegetables.
Not only as a substitute for rice, boiled cassava can also be processed into various other menus. For example, cassava can be made into kolak, brown sugar cassava, lemet, croquettes, or even fried to get a crispier texture.
However, it is important to note that boiling cassava is not as easy as imagined. Because cassava has a hard texture when raw, the boiling process takes quite a long time. If using a regular pot, cassava will only be soft after being boiled for 30 to 60 minutes.
The long duration of boiling cassava can certainly use up a lot of gas. Therefore, many people switch to using other alternatives, such as a pressure cooker. Cassava boiled with a pressure cooker will usually be soft in 10 to 15 minutes.
However, did you know that the time to boil cassava can actually be shortened? By knowing certain tricks, it only takes 5 minutes to boil cassava so that the texture becomes soft. This quick trick was once shared by a TikTok user with the account @masakituibadah.
In one of the videos uploaded, he claims to only use a regular pot (not a pressure cooker). However, the cassava produced remains soft and even cracked. Apparently, the boiling technique applied is quite easy to do.
As reported by BrilioFood from the TikTok account @masakituibadah on Thursday (12/9), the main thing that needs to be done is to use quality cassava. Usually, quality cassava tends to be fresh and easy to soften when boiled. Well, this can be seen from the outer skin that peels off and the texture looks easy to break when held.
Well, after choosing fresh cassava, peel and wash it thoroughly. After that, cut the cassava into several pieces. Then set aside in a container. Next, prepare a pan and pour enough water. Then boil until the water boils.

Then add the cassava that has been cut into pieces. In the video, TikTok user @masakituibadah also added other ingredients such as 2 cloves of garlic and 1 tbsp of salt. Using these spices will make the cassava more savory and easy to crack, you know.

After seasoning, cover the pan and boil for 5 minutes (counting from when the water boils again). If it's been 5 minutes, turn off the heat and let it sit for 30 minutes with the pan still covered. At this stage, the cassava ripening process will continue. Well, this is what then makes the texture of the cassava softer and will crack.

After 30 minutes, open the pan and lift the cassava. Then drain and move the cassava onto a plate to be eaten. In addition to being eaten directly, this boiled cassava can also be processed into various other menus.
