An effective way to ripen hard avocados with just one simple tool

Soft avocados are a favorite among many. Here's how to ripen them quickly without rice. Nadhifah

Brilio.net - Avocados with soft flesh are very popular with many people. In addition to being delicious when eaten directly, avocados can also be processed into various dishes, such as ice cream, sponge cake, mixed ice , and sushi mix. This green fruit is rich in health benefits. According to healthline.com, consuming avocados regularly can improve the immune system, maintain eye health, and help lose weight.

However, choosing avocados with the right level of ripeness is often a challenge. Many people find that the avocados they buy are still unripe, so when eaten, the texture is hard and slightly bitter. Realizing this, some people try to put avocados in a rice container. This method is believed to increase the temperature of the avocado. Unfortunately, this method is sometimes ineffective and actually makes the avocado rot. This experience was also experienced by Instagram user @farhanaaas.

"For a long time, tofu has to be put in rice, but seriously, I never succeeded, even though I was hoping to make it into pudding or something, but it always ended up being thrown away," he said, as quoted by BrilioFood from Instagram @farhanaaas on Tuesday (10/9).

As an alternative, it turns out there is an easy way to ripen avocados. In a video, it is seen that only one simple tool is needed, namely a toothpick. So, how do you do it?

"If the avocado is not ripe, it is better to pierce it with the tip of a toothpick," he explained further.

According to thespruce.com, the toothpick will help the ethylene gas in the avocado to escape. The more ethylene gas released, the faster the avocado will ripen. No need to put it in the refrigerator, the avocado that has been toothpicked is simply stored in a dry container at room temperature. In a short time, the avocado will ripen and the skin will turn brown.

Curious about the inside, this social media user immediately cut the avocado using a knife. The flesh is seen to be greenish yellow and already has a soft texture.

"It's anti-failure, it doesn't make the avocado rot, it ripens faster," he said.
