Brilio.net/en - The alps are the perfect place to unwind from the hustle and bustle of life, but for a woman and her three daughters from Nantes, a dream vacation turned into a nightmare when a fellow tourist attached them with a knife.
The family was staying in a chalet in Garde-Colombe, in the Haut-Alpes district of southern France.
The attacker has been identified as a Morrocan man named Mohamed B. He was staying next door to the victims with his pregnant wife and two children, giving him easy access to the neighboring chalet terrace, where the three young girls between the ages of eight and 14 were when he began his assault.
After stabbing the children, Mohamed approached stabbed the mother - a woman who had helped him the day before when he was feeling ill - before fleeing the scene.
Luckily, paramedics arrived quickly and the victims were rushed to a nearby hospital. Thankfully, the injuries they suffered werent life-threatening.
Mohameds motive remains uncertain at this point, although it was initially thought he was upset at the girls scanty dressing style, but Jean-Marc Duprat, a local official, dismissed the claim. Raphal Balland, a public prosecutor, said the motive was very hazy since Mohamed did not speak during the attack.
French TV station TFI reported that the man may have acted out of religious motives. This incident comes just a week after a Tunisian man killed over 80 people in Frances city of Nice by running them over with a lorry.
