Brilio.net - Coinciding with the celebration of Indonesia's 79th Independence Day on Sunday (17/8) 2024, the Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration released a new design for the Indonesian passport. The design launch was held at the Kempinski Indonesia Hotel which was inaugurated by Minister of Law and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.
Not valid now, the new Indonesian passport design will only be enforced in 2025. Well, this design change is not only in the color of the passport but there are various other innovations including the security features of the new passport .
At the launch, Yasonna H. Laoly expressed a number of positive appreciations for the changes to the passport. Especially for its design which represents Indonesia's cultural ambassadors on the international stage.
This is because the new passport implements international standards and recommendations set out in The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Annex 9 on Facilitation Chapter 3, Subchapter C, which emphasizes that each member country periodically improves passport security.
So what is the design and security of the new Indonesian passport? Let's see the full review below! As adapted by brilio.net from various sources, Tuesday (20/8).
New Indonesian passport design.
- Design aspect.
Based on the review of the Director General of Immigration, Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Silmy Karim, which was reported on the pagemigrasingurahrai.kemenkumham.go.id, the new design of the Indonesian passport has red and white nuances, this is to replace the bluish green nuances in the old passport design.
In addition, on each page of the new Indonesian passport design, 33 Indonesian fabric motifs are used. There are also motifs that show regional characteristics such as traditional houses.
The use of Indonesian fabrics is based on the many motifs of Indonesian fabrics, namely 5,849 from Sabang to Merauke. Basically, this new design is themed on diversity. The front page is red with a white Garuda symbol with white letters (symbolizing the red and white colors).
- Security aspect.
Looking at the passport security aspect, there is an increase in following the rules set by The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO). In ICAO Annex 9 on Facilitation Chapter 3, Subchapter C, it is stated that each country must periodically update passport security techniques and features according to the latest developments.
The goal of increasing security is done by avoiding forgery, replication, duplication, and replacement and deletion of data on Indonesian passports. Not only that, there is a combination of security features applied in the new passport design, namely:
- Heat resistant cover
- Flexible
- Able to protect chips
- Meanwhile, the passport biodata section is made of polycarbonate material and has a coating on its surface.
No less interesting, the new design of Indonesian passport paper is equipped with chemically sensitive security, where the ink used is visible ink (fluorescent ink) and invisible ink (infrared ink) that glows under ultraviolet light. Furthermore, the ink is also used for the passport book sewing thread made of three colors.
