Vice President Jusuf Kalla flew to Thailand today to receive a honorary doctorate degreein Business Administration from Rajamangala Univesity of Technology Isan (RMUTI) in Bangkok.
"The honorary doctorate is scheduled to be bestowed by Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn," said the spokesperson forthe vice president's secretariat Rusmin Nuryadin in a written statement, Wednesday.
Jusuf Kalla headed to Thailand at 09.00 am from Halim Perdanakusuma Airport accompanied by his wife Mrs. Mufidah Kalla.
Rusmin added that the ceremony will also coincide with the graduation of 2,000 students of Rajamangala Univestiy. The vice president is set to deliver a speech during the evening gala dinner.
"During the (one-year) mourning period (of the death of Thai King) , the vice president also planned a courtesy visit to the Thai Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-Ocha and to meet Indonesian people [who live there]," Rusmin said.
Jusuf Kalla is set to arrive in Indonesia byThursday evening.
This is the ninth honorary degree received by Jusuf Kalla.He has beengivena honorary doctorate in peace from Japans Soka University, in education of entrepreneurship from Indonesian Education University, in political economy from Hasanuddin University, in economics and business from Brawijaya University, and eight more from various universities in Indonesia and abroad.
