Brilio.net - Finding a job in Indonesia is not easy, especially with the increasingly tight competition in the modern era. Even those with a bachelor's degree often have difficulty finding a job with a decent salary.
One of the main factors that makes employment increasingly difficult is the productivity of the workforce which is still lower than other countries. Data from the World Bank shows that the productivity of Indonesian workers is only around 20% of developed countries such as Japan and Germany, making competition in the world of work increasingly tough.
In addition to the difficulty of finding a job , another problem faced is stagnant wages. Many workers only get the regional minimum wage (UMR), some even lower, making it difficult to improve their standard of living.
This is what a man felt when he shared his story through the TikTok account @rizki_kyy23. He admitted that he had tried various jobs in Indonesia, but it was still difficult to realize his dream.
"Before working in Japan, I had tried all professions in Indonesia. From small salaries to the minimum wage, it felt difficult to realize my dreams in my own country," he said in the video.

Feeling there was no way out, he finally decided to "escape" to Japan. He registered through LPK Kanzo and got a job in the shipping sector after passing the selection with N4 Japanese language skills.
"Hotate language N4," he explained.
His decision to work abroad was not solely because he wanted to leave his homeland. For him, it was more painful to be looked down upon just because he had nothing.
"It's not that I want to leave the warmth of home, but how painful it is to be looked down upon when you have nothing," he said.

Getting a decent-paying job is not easy, especially for someone with only a modest educational background. The negative stigma against manual workers often makes them look down on.
"I was always looked down upon because I graduated from school and only became a laborer," he said.
However, he did not want to continue to be depressed and chose to work hard for a better future. The decision to migrate to Japan was a big step in changing his life.
"Trying to turn the wheel of life with the title of a coolie," he added.

While working in Japan as a clam fisherman (hotate), this man managed to earn a net salary of up to 300,000 per month. If converted to rupiah at an exchange rate of 1 = Rp150, then his income is around Rp45,000,000 per month. This amount does not include overtime pay, which means the total income could be even greater.
It is no wonder that in the first year, he focused on paying off his debts. Then, in the second year, he managed to renovate his house at a cost of Rp500 million.
"The first year I paid off the debt, the second year I built a house. MasyaAllah, even though it's not big, I'm still grateful," he said.

Seeing his achievements, many netizens felt inspired and motivated. They even expressed their desire to follow in his footsteps to work in Japan.
"If you work hard in Indonesia, you won't be able to do that, bro. There, you can build a house in just two years. Good luck and stay healthy," wrote @desni.ismail.
The desire to improve the family's economic condition is the main reason many people choose to work abroad. Many believe that working in Japan provides more promising results than in Indonesia.
"That's the reason I really want to go to Japan so I can change my family's economy," said @val_ta2624.
"If you see results like this, you'll be really happy, it's not a waste of working so far," said @user40626385073845.
"Trust me, the results of work in Japan are no joke," added @jhulie_93.
