Brilio.net/en - A massive blizzard, nicknamed the Snowzilla, that hit the United States (US) East Coast this weekend has finally given way to brilliant sunshine as the temperatures rose on Sunday, enabling the millions of people who were forced into hibernation to dig their way back to reality.

While the storm is now over, the aftermath is still paralyzing the East Coast, and has left tens of thousands of people without power, resulting in nearly 12,000 flight cancellations over the weekend.

The storm paralyzed the suburbs of Washington, D.C. with over 56 centimeters snow, before moving on to Philadelphia and New York, freezing road, rail and airline travel along the East Coast. The 68 centimeters of snow that fell in New York's Central Park was the second-highest accumulation since records began in 1869.

But as temperature rose, the US East Coast emerged from its long sleep as roads were reopened throughout the city. Thousands of people, including children, flocked to parks in order to play in the snow and build snowmen, putting on snowball, organizing snowball fights, and preparing for cross-country skis as well as snowboards in a gleaming winter wonderland under the sunshine.
