Brilio.net/en - Indonesia has a lot to offer tourists: from the economic hub of South East Asia in Jakarta to the tourist hotspot in Bali. But most tourists forget that the country is the greatest archipelago in the world, counting over six hundred different islands. Here is the shortlist of some amazing places that are still preserved from mass tourism.

1. Flores and the national park of Komodo

There are many different kinds of landscapes on the island of Flores, the most emblematic spot being the Labuan Bajo bay and its white sand deserted beaches. Inland, the Kelimutu volcano and its three lakes of different colours are the most visited sites of Flores. The Ngada country, located in the centre of the island, is unique for its green valleys and thick jungle, and is perfect for hiking lovers. Finally, the national park of Komodo between Sumbawa and Flores is one of the most beautiful snorkelling spots in the world! Dont forget to meet up with the dangerous dragons in their natural environment.

2. Togian Island

Right under the Equator and north of the island of Sulawesi (also known as Celebes), the Togian Islands and the Tomini Bay are a very preserved part of Indonesia. Consisting of over 52 different islands, the best (and almost only) way to travel the Togian is by boat. The local boats, outrigger canoe supported by bamboo float and a small motor, can take you to the most unexpected places and offer various change of scenery.

3. Papua and Raja Ampat

The four kings , is the English translation of raja ampat, and it is indeed a very suitable name for this part of Indonesia that has been early spotted by luxury hotels whom saw the potential of the location. Local tourism is of course still largely widespread and the fishermens boats are actually the best way to reach the most incredible snorkelling spots, among which is the famous coral triangle of the indo-pacific area. Travelling through Papua and Raja Ampat is quite a long journey: one or two flights and minimum two boat trips to reach some parts of the region. Maybe thats actually the reason why its still one the countrys best kept secret!
