According to CEO of WWF-Indonesia Efransjah, climate changes is a real threat to the preservation of natural resources, biodiversity, and general human survival. Just like what has been done in the past few years, the global Earth Hour initiative this year encourages people to switch off the lights and switch on their social power.
The two cultural icons, Borobudur and Prambanan Temple, are the symbol (of worlds cultural and natural wealth) to open our eyes that the beauty and richness of nature arent only for us, but also for our children and grandchildren. We have to be able to inherit prosperous, sustainable Earth to them, he saidon Tuesday (15/3).
"Through the symbolism of turning off our lights and appliances for an hour, we show a real commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions," he added.
The March 19s commemoration of Earth Hour in Borobudur Temple will be located in Aksobya Court, starting at 7:30 pm Indonesia time.
On March 19, all lights in the temple area and surroundings will be switched off from 8:30 pm until 9:30. For security, street lamps and some lamps and air conditioners in our office will remain on, said Retno Hardiasiwi, operating director of PT. Taman Wisata Candi Borobudur, Prambanan, and Ratu Boko.
