Brilio.net/en - Its the modern day struggle we can all relate to. Whether youre texting your crush on Whatsapp (and not using any gay emojis) or using Google Maps to check out that new restaurant everyones been talking about on Instagram, it seems as if phones have a knack for dying at the most inconvenient of times.

And weve all got that one friend that claims closing out of open apps will save battery, but thats most likely a myth. While turning down your brightness might help in conserving some energy (in the least it will help you sleep better) Weve compiled some tips to save you some much needed battery life, without buying a portable charger.

1. Pro-tip: Turn phone to Low Power Mode when not actually using

This is a well kept secret for you i-Phone users out there. The low power mode does is not default automatically, so when you arent actively using your phone, especially at night, turn it to low power mode. According to some sources, this can save up to three hours of battery life. At Birchtree, they have run tests that proved the theory, with one participant saying: "On average, my battery was at 17% at midnight in normal mode, but 49% in Low Power Mode."

2. Pro-Tip: Figure out what Apps are sucking your power dry

All Apps arent created equally, and some just require more energy than others. Looking at you, Facebook. A report that emerged in February from The Guardian claims that uninstalling the Facebook app can save you up to 15% of iPhone battery life. Figure out which Apps of yours are draining the battery. For Facebook for example, try logging in from Safari rather than from the app itself.

3. Pro-tip: Turn the Brightness down

While logging out of the screens wont save you much battery, turning the brightness down has been proved to save some much needed juice in your phone. If you want to take it to the next level, get into the habit of pressing the Sleep/Wake button when youre not using your phone.

4. Turn off the Vibrations

While dimming the screen is an obvious solution, this tip is lesser known but arguably more effective in conserving battery power as vibrations actually use more power than ringtones. Think about it producing sound waves versus moving the entire weight of the smart phone is quite incomparable. Try lessening the magnitude of the vibrations if you dont want to use a low-volume alert.

5. Close the GPS

Big brother doesnt need to always be watching. Facebook and GoogleMaps, in addition to some lesser expecting Apps such as Instagram, use a GPS tool in order to track your location to better target your ads. When left running, some of these apps will continue sending and receiving GPS signals, significantly draining your batter.
