Brilio.net/en - A 'Ring of Fire' solar eclipse will occur on September 1, 2016. This rare phenomenon can be seen in 124 cities in 10 provinces in Indonesia.

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), the eclipse will acrossthe Atlantic Ocean, the central part of Africa, Madagascar and the Indian Ocean.

"In Indonesia, the eclipse can be observed on the afternoon before sunset in the form of partial solar eclipse, such as in Mentawai Islands, Bengkulu, South Sumatra, Lampung, Banten, West Java, Jakarta, Central Java, Yogyakarta and western East Java," the BMKG wrote in a releaseonWednesday.

The eclipse begins when First Contact occurs, which is when the moon disc, seen as awhite circle with a dotted line begins to cover the solar disc, which looks like ayellow circle. The covered sun will get bigger until the aclipse reaches its peak.

The BMKG explained that the time of occurrence will vary depending on where you are. The first "First Contact" will take place in Pacitan, East Java, at 5.26 p.m. local time.

All locations in Java and Kalianda, Lampung, will experience First Contact just before the sun goes down.

A perfect eclipse (in this case a perfect ring) will be visible in Seai Mentawai Island, West Sumatra, at 5.52 p.m. and then in the surrounding cities in Sumatra. The longest duration will occur in Manna, Bengkulu, for 34 minutes 30 seconds.

The eclipse will end in Kepahingan, Bengkulu at 6.06 p.m.
