Pope Francis , the world's top Catholic Church leader, is ending his historic visit to Indonesia in an unusual way. On Friday (6/9), the Holy Father will continue his journey to Papua New Guinea using a commercial aircraft Garuda Indonesia. This decision marks a unique moment in papal travel that usually uses special aircraft.

This information was confirmed by Anthonius Gregorius, Deputy Media Coordinator of the Committee for the Holy Visit of Pope Francis. The use of the Indonesian national airline is a real proof of the Pope's commitment to be closer to the general public and support local services in the countries he visits.

The Pope's visit to Indonesia will last for four days, from September 3 to 6, 2024. During his stay in the country, the Pope brought a message of peace, unity, and harmony. His busy agenda includes meetings with President Joko Widodo, government officials, community and religious figures, and students. The peak of his visit was marked by a grand mass at the Bung Karno Stadium (GBK) on Thursday (5/9).

After Indonesia, the Pope will continue his journey to Papua New Guinea (September 6-9), Timor Leste (September 9-11), and finally Singapore (September 11-13). This series of visits shows the Vatican's special attention to the Asia Pacific region, especially developing countries with significant Catholic populations.

Pope Francis' departure to Papua New Guinea using Garuda Indonesia certainly left behind various interesting moments. The following moments were collected by brilio.net from YouTube KEMSOS KWI, Friday (6/9).
