Famous preacher Miftah Maulana or familiarly called Gus Miftah has again reaped controversy. This time, an old video showing him throwing jokes at legendary singer Yati Pesek went viral on social media. The action drew a lot of criticism because it was considered insulting and body shaming.
In a video uploaded by the X account @cobeh2022, Gus Miftah is filling a puppet show with Yati Pesek. In the video, Miftah makes a joke that not only alludes to Yati Pesek's physical appearance but is also considered to contain obscene elements. Netizens are also busy debating the boundaries between humor and insults.
It is known that this incident occurred at a Ki Warsono puppet show in Yogyakarta. Gus Miftah, who was present as a guest, joined Yati Pesek on stage. However, when Yati appeared, she immediately became the target of Gus Miftah's jokes which began by mentioning the song "Bajing Loncat" that had just been sung.
"This was Bajing Loncat's song, this rascal I'm inviting to the stage," said Miftah in Javanese, quoted on Friday (5/12).
The statement drew laughter from some of the audience, but Yati Pesek's expression immediately changed. Her disappointed expression and subtle protest showed that the joke was not well received. Here is what brilio.net collected from the X account @cobeh2022, Friday (6/12).
4. Yati then protested. "Why are you calling me a bastard?" said the comedian who is now 72 years old.
