Prosecutors Seek 20 Years For Jessica In Cyanide Coffee Murder Case

The demand comes 10 months after the death of Wayan Mirna Salihin at a mall in Central Jakarta

Brilio.net/en - Prosecutors at the Central Jakarta District Court on Wednesday demanded a 20-year sentence forJessica Kumala Wongso inthe cyanide coffee murder case many has dubbed as Indonesia's versionof the OJ Simpson trial.

[We] declare the defendant Jessica, or Jessica Kumala Wongso, alias Jess, as guilty of premeditated murder as stipulated in Article 340 of the Criminal Code, Prosecutor Meilani said.

The prosecutor added that throughoutthe investigation and the trial period, the court found no justifiable reason to free the defendant of criminal responsibilities over the case.

Nothingcould be used to justify the defendant's actions. Therefore, she has to take responsibility and accept punishment for her actions. she added.
