From 2015 to 2016, here are some of the most attention-grabbing murders in Indonesia.

Over the past two years, a number of murder cases have stood out and gained a lot of public attentioon in Indonesia. We look back on some of them, particularly those from the years 2015 and 2016.

1. The murder case of Tata Chubby.

Tata was found dead in her kost or rented roomin Tebet Timur, South Jakarta, on April 11, 2015. She was found naked with socks in her mouth and a cable around her neck. The murderer, who was identified with the initials M.R.S., stated that he was angry after she complained about his body odor and mocked his physical appearance.

2. The murder case of Angeline.

An eight-year-old girl named Angeline was found dead in Bali in May 2015. Prior to the discovery of her body, her family had announced her disappearance on social media. Her corpse was found in the backyard of her home on June 10, 2015, after which her foster mother Margriet Christina Megawe was named a suspect and later found guilty of the crime. She is found to have physically and mentally abused Angeline.

3. The rape and murder case of Enno Farihah.

Enno Farihah, a factory worker, was found dead and naked in her boarding house in Tangerang with a handle of a hoe stuck into her private part. The three suspects raped and murdered her after she refused to have sex with one of them who was her boyfriend.

4. The murder case of Mirna Salihin.

Mirna Salihin passed away after drinking a Vietnamese coffee tamperedwith cyanide in Olivier Caf of Grand Indonesia Mall in Central Jakarta, on January 6, 2016. The suspectwas her own friend, Jessica Kumala Wongso, who was later found guilty after a series of long televised trials. She was sentenced to 20 years in prison on October 27, 2016.

5. The robbery and murder case of a family in Pulomas.

Six people died in their own house in Pulogadung, East Jakarta, after being locked up in a 1.5 x 1.5 square meter bathroom.

A witness named Sheila Putri reported the case to Kayu Putih Police Station, who thendiscovered the victims. A lack of oxygen was identified as the cause of the deaths, while five others were in critical condition when found.
