Brilio.net - Aming's drastically changed appearance shocked the public some time ago. The 43-year-old comedian suddenly appeared with a long beard and often wore a koko shirt . Many suspected that Aming had converted, considering that his appearance is now far from the feminine impression that has stuck with him so far.
But who would have thought, the change in appearance was only part of Aming's process of studying the role for a film. Aming revealed that he was undergoing observation to play the character Sumanto in his latest film project. He did this in order to produce maximum and convincing acting.
However, Aming admitted that he could not deny public speculation about his migration at that time. He chose not to provide clarification and let people interpret the changes in his appearance themselves. Aming's attitude of not denying it actually strengthened the assumption that he had truly migrated.

Aming said that he was indeed conducting observations for his role as Sumanto. In the process, he visited the An-Nur Foundation which is a drug rehabilitation center with a more humane approach.
The foundation also has an Islamic boarding school, so it makes sense that Aming would adjust his appearance while he was there. This is what makes him look more religious and raises speculation about hijrah.
"At that time I was observing Sumanto's character. So Sumanto ended up at the An-Nur Foundation. The foundation is like drug rehabilitation, a more humane approach, continuing with Islamic boarding schools," he explained.
Aming admitted that he is not a good liar. When asked by the media about the rumors of his migration, he chose not to give a definite answer.

He even admitted to still keeping the women's clothes he used to wear. This further confused the public about his hijrah status.
"I'm someone who can't lie when in an interview, 'Ming said he moved, right?' Yes, whatever, like that, right? 'The girls' clothes are still available?' Yes, why? Yes, it might be used again at any time," said Aming.
Aming's appearance that looks more religious turned out to have an unexpected impact. He was even offered to be a ustaz and judge in a Quran recitation competition.
The offer certainly surprised Aming, considering he was just exploring the role. Finally, he decided to reject the offer because he felt he did not have enough capacity.

"Ming, be the judge, musabaqah tilawatil quran. Huh? I'm like, I mean I'm the judge of the musabaqah tilawatil quran event. I just do my iqra on the spot, only do one iqra. I have to judge people reciting the Koran like 'no-no'. So I think it's not up to my capacity at that time," he explained.
Aming finally decided to speak up about the reason behind his change in appearance. He felt uncomfortable with the speculations, especially since it concerns a sensitive religious issue.
The Jakarta-born actor emphasized that all his changes in appearance were solely to deepen his role as Sumanto in the film. He does not want any further misunderstandings regarding the rumors of his migration.
"I can't stand it anymore. That's why I have to talk, because it's like (a burden). Because it's a religious issue, it's scary, it's not for fun, in the end I just spilled it now," concluded Aming.
