The South Jakarta Religious Court has decided on the divorce between Sherina Munaf and Baskara Mahendra this week. After 5 years of marriage, the two are now officially separated.
South Jakarta Religious Court Public Relations, Suryana, said that the divorce was decided by default, meaning that Baskara Mahendra as the defendant was not present at the trial.
"Sherina's trial today was decided with a default verdict," said Suryana when met at the South Jakarta Religious Court on Thursday (13/2).
"This means that the lawsuit filed by Sherina was granted without the presence of the defendant," he added.
Suryana explained that Baskara Mahendra had been summoned to court twice but never appeared. The panel of judges then continued the case to the next agenda.
Suryana continued, "So, two trials were appropriately summoned, and today the trial process was continued with the reading of the lawsuit and directly to the presentation of evidence, until finally the default decision was issued."
According to Suryana, Sherina as the plaintiff showed her seriousness in suing for this divorce. This was seen from her presence in the trial accompanied by her attorney.
"So, in the trial earlier, the plaintiff (Sherina) was present with her legal team," said Suryana.
Sherina Munaf filed for divorce against Baskara Mahendra at the South Jakarta Religious Court on January 16, 2025. The lawsuit was filed by Sherina's legal team with case number 325/Pdt.G/2025.
Sherina and Baskara were married on November 3, 2020. Their wedding was held privately because it took place in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
