Brilio.net - Many people came down to hold a demonstration in front of the DPR/MPR RI Building, Jakarta on Thursday (22/8). This action was held after the DPR RI Legislation Body (Baleg) held a working committee meeting regarding the Revision of the Pilkada Law. However, at this moment it was not only students and activists who came down, but there were also a number of artists who joined the action.

One of the Indonesian celebrities who joined the demonstration was the famous actor, Reza Rahadian . Not only was he present, he was also given the opportunity to deliver a speech. Wearing a black hat and a T-shirt, Reza Rahadian climbed onto a pickup truck and stated that he wanted to contribute to the protest against the current heated situation in Indonesia.

"Today, I can no longer stay silent. I can't sleep peacefully at home," said Reza as reported by brilio.net on Thursday (22/8).

Reza said that now is the time for the public to demand that the DPR not be arbitrary in making laws. He said that the Constitutional Court's decision must be maintained as an effort to restore the dignity of the institution which was tarnished by the impact of the previous decision. Therefore, he feels that the Constitutional Court's decision number 60 of 2024 should be respected.

"We have received a decision that we really respect from the Constitutional Court," he said.

Reza sensed that the DPR RI's efforts to annul the decision were to bring a certain agenda of interest. Therefore, he firmly stated that democracy should be owned by all the people and should not be intended only for a handful of people.

"This is not a country belonging to a particular family," Reza stressed.

Furthermore, he warned members of the DPR who were discussing the Pilkada Bill not to play around in holding the mandate they were carrying. Especially if the legislative body did not listen to the people's voice by passing the Pilkada Bill which annulled the Constitutional Court's decision. If that happened, he immediately emphasized that the DPR did not represent the people at all.

"Who are you representing in this?" said Reza.

As an actor who is rarely seen in demonstrations, Reza feels sad about the changes in the rules for the sake of political interests of one party. Furthermore, he also advised his friends in the masses to remain careful. In addition, he asked that the demonstration situation remain orderly in a respectful manner.

"Hopefully this is what is done, no decision can be born on that day," said Reze.

"I just want to say, friends, take good care of yourselves, we remain orderly, conducive, we show that we can maintain today's situation in an orderly and honorable manner," he stressed.

In addition to Reza, several comedians also appeared to convey demands to the DPR. Among them were Abdel Achrian, Abdur Arsyad, Gusti Muhammad Abdurrahman Bintang Mahaputra alias Bintang Emon, Andovida Lopez, Ahmad Najmi Hidayat alias Ebel Cobra, Muhammad Rizki Rakelna alias Rigen, Arie Kriting, and Mamat Alkatiri.
