This Indonesian singer who grew up in Germany, Hong Kong and Singapore decided to enter the world of singing as a solo singer. Music is nothing new for Rhea. According to his confession, his love for music started when he was a child. With diverse influences from a mix of Asian and European cultures, Rhea has a unique sensitivity to various musical genres and different vocal styles. In February 2024, Rhea took a big step as a solo singer by releasing her first single entitled Glue. This song is said to be inspired by his personal experience. In a press conference attended by brilio.net , Friday (23/2), Rhea told about her love story which was expressed in her first song.
The song Glue, which comes from the R&B genre, tells the story of a woman who falls in love with a man. He was waiting for the moment when his lover expressed his feelings. However, the man never provided confirmation.
"This song tells the story of a girl who likes a guy. But this guy doesn't try to give certainty," said Rhea.
This first single is not only Rhea's debut moment, but also a venue for her creative collaboration with Kamga Mo. The former vocal group Tangga took the role as producer for the song Glue sung by Rhea. In his journey to work on the song Glue with Rhea, Kamga admitted that he dug deeper into musical references that Rhea liked as material for developing the song.
"The opportunity to make R&B music is quite rare, so when the opportunity arose, I was quite excited. I also found out what kind of music Rhea liked. She even sent me her music playlist and after listening, I felt like it clicked," explained Kamga.
The collaboration between the two not only makes the song Glue catchy musically, but also has a touch of romance typical of young people that is genuine and sweet. Not only collaborating with Kamga Mo, Rhea also collaborated with Bella Panggabean to work on her first music video.
During the filming process, Bella also admitted that there were no significant obstacles. All production processes run smoothly. As director, Bella Panggabean also succeeded in translating Rhea's lyrics and thoughts into an eye-catching visual presentation.
"We tried to bring the female characters to life in the music video. Even though the shooting process only lasted one day, we maximized it with several set ups," he added.
The song Glue can be enjoyed on all music platforms starting February 23 2024. Together with Glue, Rhea Asmara hopes to explore her musical abilities more deeply to create music that is honest and acceptable to Indonesian music lovers.
