Utilizing sea waves as means for electricity without a generator

Electric current is flowed through wires and could be used immediately Ahada Ramadhana

Brilio.net/en - There are actually numerous things around us that we have yet to figure out how to properly harness them. Most of the times, people will not even acknowledge their importance until someone somewhere has managed to figure out how to benefit from said element.

Hendra Prasetyo along with his three friends Ilham Eka Fitrianto, Sutiyo, and Wim Widyo Baskoro at the Faculty of Engineering, Semarang State University (UM), , tried to have an experiment in generating electricity. They developed a concept of a hydroelectric power plant which utilizes sea waves as a source of power to be converted into electricity.

Hendra said there was once a similar concept in Yogyakarta, however it only utilized one system which was the oscillating water column. Hendra added one more system to the concept and thats induced electromotive force. With these two systems in place, more energy can be generated. The Oscillating Water Column (OWC) system utilizes sea waves in order to create pressure from water. Later, this water would propel or move a turbine that would turn a generator on.

The Induced electromotive force (EMF) system instead utilizes a coil and magnet. Hence, in order to find out the level of electric current, the coil is placed in magnetic field or in a magnetic area. Coil movement would then produce an electric current, said Hendra to brilio.net, Monday (10/8).

This induced EMF model is simpler because it does not require a media generator. The electric current is flowed through wires and could be used immediately.
