How Soybeans Can Ease Your Menopause Symptoms

Menopause is a thing a lot of women worry about.

However, it is a natural phase where womens hormones change causing uncomfortable symptoms including mood swing, dry vagina, hot flashes and excessive sweating at night.

Some researches show there are ways to relieve menopausal symptoms, one of which is by consuming soybeans such as tempeh, tofu, edamame or soy milk.

Why? Becausephytoestrogens in soybeans can help relieving menopausal symptoms.

Research teams from Erasmus University Medical Center in Netherlands and Cambridge University, England held a research involving 6,653 women to find out what natural ingredients or herbs that have big influence in a menopausal phase. Around 40 to 50 of the participants admitted that soy-based food can help relieve their menopausal symptoms.

Soybeans are known to have a high amount of phytoestrogen, a natural chemical compound that functions similarly to womens estrogen.

Phytoestrogen reportedly is able to overcome hot flashes and dry vagina, two most common things most menopause women suffer from. Unfortunately, researchers found that soybeans are unable to decrease the amount of sweat women have at night.

But, the good news is soy-based food is easy to find in Indonesia.

Furthermore, soy-based food has isoflavones which is good for menopause women.

Hormone therapy also reportedly can be used to decrease the pain women get due to menopause. However, it might increase the risk of breast cancer and cardiovascular.

Now, around 40 to 50 percent of women in Western countries use plant based therapy and medicine to help relieve menopausal symptoms. Food such as tempeh, tofu, miso, and edamame also have isoflavones that can help that.

In Western countries, there are only small numbers of people who consume food with isoflavones, and they only consume 2 milligrams per day. Meanwhile, in Asia, women in average consume around 25-50 milligrams per day. To relieve menopausal symptoms, it takes around 10-100 milligrams of isoflavone each day.

Drinking two glasses of soy milk can help relieve menopausal symptoms including facial flushing and always feeling hot. Those consuming 1 to 2 portion of soybeans every day can decrease the problems of cholesterol, osteoporosis, dementia, and breast cancer.
