Sentot Setiadi was arrested in Pekalongan last Wednesday morning after stealing a Transjakarta bus belonged to Mayasari Bakti, one of the bus operators.
Sentot who was a former employee of Mayasari Bakti stole the bus from the garage in Ciracas, East Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon. Sentot deceived the security officers, saying he was about to pick up a group of students before turning off the GPS system and driving it out of the city.
"He said he heard a whisper [to do so]. His statement is still confusing," said Ciracas PoliceChief Commr. Tuti Aini on Friday.
Thus, the police was set to perform a mental health check up to Sentot as it was confirmed by East Jakarta Police Chief Sr. Commr. Andry Wibowo. "Yes, we'll check it [Sentot's psychological condition] first," said Andry.
Sentot himself was a backup driver of Mayasari Bakti. He worked for the company for only five months.
Due to this incident, Assistant Director of Mayasari Bakti, Akhmad Zulkifli said the company would tighten the security system.
"We'll try to use the barcode or fingerprint," said Zulkifli.
