Father Chen (85) one day came to the conclusion that societys obsession with money is meaningless. Then, after he earned 200,000 yuan (about Rp422 millions) by selling his house, he finally found a way to show his son and daugher-in-law that the large quantity of money is not everything in life.

Using the paper-shredder, he teared the majority of banknotes into small pieces.

Forget about the money! he said to the shocked couple, as reported by Shanghaiist, Wednesday (20/1).

Chens son said that when his father decided to sell his house, he was tried to convince him to keep the money and save it to his bank account. Against the sons wishes, the father just didnt want the money; neither for himself nor for his children.

The couple happened to save 60,000 yuan from the pile before Chen shredded the money, and stored the cash in the bank.

Having piles of yuan notes seems to be a dream come true for many in China, but Father Chen believes the opposite. However, he is an anomalie as many fathers in China, who usually tend to spend a lot for their children.

One father from Shanghai, for example, used the 2 million yuan he earned after selling his house to take his baby daughter on a 5-year trip around the world.
